Kenya Ports Authority is experiencing worse than normal congestion "due to lack of space following delays by importers collecting their containers from the port in good time".The Authority states that there are over 10,000 containers lying in the port destined for Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan,
Burundi and Rwanda. This means typical delays of at least three weeks, sometimes four.

Tanzania Ports Authority also reports high congestion with thousands of uncleared containers also causing typical delays of more than two weeks.
